Road Warriors trounce Elasto Painters in double OT

The NLEX Road Warriors outplayed the Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters in double overtime, 122-114, in the 2017 Governors’ Cup Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Aaron Fuller had 33 points and a whopping 20 rebounds to lead NLEX while Kevin Alas added 24 points, 12 of which came from the fourth quarter and two overtimes, 10 rebounds and five assists. Alas scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and two overtime periods including his game-tying to forced the second overtime period.

JR Quinahan managed to help the team with 13 points while Larry Fonacier finished with 11 points. Meanwhile, Alex Mallari scored nine points for the Road Warriors.

Maverick Ahanmisi posted 13 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for Rain or Shine. JD Weatherspoon had 20 points and eight rebounds.

“We finished the game strong. We made the right decisions, made the right plays. It’s still a learning process for us,” said coach Yeng Guiao after the game. “Beating ROS is a testament to the progress that we’ve made.”
