Pocari ekes out winning streak, trips Perlas


The gem of Pocari team Myla Pablo once again performed tremendous to trip Perlas-BanKo 25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 27-25, to post its second straight win in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at Filoil Flying V Center on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old Filipino veteran nailed a game-leading 23 points, including 2 that finished Perlas’ set-points as the Lady Warriors eye for another championship in the PVL.

Pablo was backed up by Kai Nepomuceno and Jeannete Panaga, who added 14 and 13 points, respectively. Team captain led the team at its best, when Perlas dragged the match to a deciding set after Jorella Marie de Jesus unloaded a kill for a 25-24 lead. Just then Myla Pablo and Desiree Dadang dropped next two points to extend their winning streak to two.

Pablo after the match said –

It’s a tough two games for us, maybe we need to work even harder in the next games,”

While, Pocari Coach Rico de Guzman looked visibly satisfied –

“It’s still a win and we will take it,”

Pablo along with 23 points notched 11 receptions while Cai Nepomuceno managed two blocks and two service aces to complete at 14 points.

Jeanette Panaga once again proved great for Lady Warriors by controlling the attacks with five blocks for a 13-point output while Elaine Kasilag had 11 points and 17 amazing receptions.

For the second time BanKo-Perlas played without Kathy Bersola while Sasa Devanadera stood out due to injury.

Banko-Perlas after losing to Lady Warrior and Philippine Air Force is now dropped to 0-2, while Pocari will gun for early solo lead by facing off Power Smashers.
