Meralco outplays Rain or Shine

The Meralco Bolts pulled off an 89-73 win over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters to remain undefeated in the PBA Governors’ Cup Saturday night at Ynares Center, in Antipolo.

Allen Durham had a monster game with 23 points, 23 rebounds and eight assists for Meralco which trailed 14 points in the first quarter and delivered the best basketball in the next three quarters. With the win, the Bolts are undefeated.

Meralco also spoiled Elasto Painters’ star James Yaps milestone by reaching 10,000 points. Yap entered the game with just three points shy of the 10k mark and went on to score seven points.

Jared Dillinger scored 13 points for Meralco, hitting 4-for-8 outside the arc. Dillinger delivered a three-pointer that allowed the Bolts to have a 61-58 lead in the third quarter.

Meanwhile, import JD Weatherspoon had 19 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks for Rain Or Shine which has a 1-2 start. Meralco is tied with NLEX with 3-0 start.

Yap is considered one of the greatest NBA players of all time, and reaching 10,000 is a significant feat.
