Horn wants a rematch with Pacquiao

Although Australian Jeff Horn believes he truly deserved the crown “Battle of Brisbane” after defeating one of the greatest boxer Manny Pacquiao, to shut down the hovering controversies Horn wants a rematch with the Filipino Senator.

Horn surprised the boxing world by winning 12-round unanimous decision over Pacquiao on 2nd July at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, but that triggered outcry among Pacquiao’s fans and followers.

Horn in a statement in Los Angeles on Thursday said –

“I kind of feel it has been put to bed and that I definitely won the fight because it has been rescored,”

After GAB’s letter to WBO, the five-man panel was formed who reviewed and rescored the welterweight title fight. The committee found that Horn did beat Pacquiao, 7-5 rounds. Their tally confirmed the 115-113 scores of judges Chris Flores and Ramon Cerdan.

Horn, welcomed the verdict formed by WBO even after being certain about his own victory.

But that didn’t resolve the controversies, in fact GAB said that the scoring was also affected by inefficiency of Mark Nelson, referee.

Horn wants a solution to this, so he said –

“But people are always going to have their opinions and you’re not going to be able to change those. So I guess the only way you’re going to be able to do it is to have a rematch,”

“I’d love the rematch. I know he’d train harder and be better prepared but I’d beat him even more convincingly than the first time” added Horn

Manny Pacquiao on the other hand disclosed his intention about the rematch on Twitter saying –

“I love this sport and until the passion is gone, I will continue to fight for God, my family, my fans and my country”
