Greg Slaughter leads Ginebra over GlobalPort

The Ginebra Gin Kings defeated GlobalPort, 124-108, through the strong performance of big man Greg Slaughter in the PBA Governors’ Cup on Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Slaughter had 19 points, eight rebounds and two blocks to help Ginebra in creating an early separation in the second quarter. Coming from the bench, Slaughter scored 10 points in the second quarter. In addition, point guard LA Tenorio posted 29 points, five rebounds and four assists while Justin Brownlee added 21 points, 12 rebounds and four assists.

With plenty of scorers, Ginebra got contributions also from Joe Devance with 14 points and six rebounds while Scottie Thompson and 13 points and nine assists.

“Frankly, I wasn’t sure I’d be here. After our first game, I wasn’t sure if we can figure it out that quickly, but we had a week of practice after that game and we made a lot of adjustments. We visited the triangle a bit more because the triangle is a good post offense,” said Ginebra head coach Tim Cone.

Murphy Holloway led GlobalPort with 36 poitns, 18 rebounds and three assists while Terrence Romeo added 25 points, nine assists and five rebounds.
